Marbella is the most popular seaside resort on the Costa del Sol in Andalusia. Situated at only 50 minute south of Malaga (airport with many connections), Marbella enjoys a high-end reputation. Its seafront is very well landscaped with a large pedestrian promenade (quite rare) serving the various sandy beaches of Marbella with many restaurants and tapas bars. Its old city is a real post card with its white houses, its little narrow streets and its tropical plants especially on the square of los Naranjos. At our sense, it is the most beautiful city of the seaside of this part of the Andalusian coast (even if the seafront has not got too much charm with its buildings and its hotels).
The beaches of Marbella are among the most beautiful in Andalousia for the urban beaches. Very well maintained (even out of season), its sandy beaches stretch for several kilometers. Fine sand, many equipments (and even a little too much), pedestrian promenade, very well laid out access and old town just steps away make it an ideal destination for those looking for a beach holiday with a lively area.
To stay in Marbella in high season is often expensive. Many resorts extend to the marina of Puerto Banus (it is away from the center of Marbella). We will prefer the small hotels near the old city (the hotels are usually good, they are small family hotels with less than 15 rooms).
