The Empuriabrava seaside resort is situed on the Costa Brava 45 minutes from the French border. It is one of the biggest marina in the world with almost 30 kilometers of canals (the same style as Port-Grimaud or Port-Camargue in France). It is in the the gulf of Roses south of Figueras.
There are several beaches in Empuriabrava. The downtown one extends a little over a kilometer long by almost 100 meters wide. It is very well equipped with two help stations, restaurants on the promenade, mattress rentals in season and access for people with reduced mobility. To the south, the beach of Can Comes is totally wild, without constructions on the outskirts. To the north, Rubina beach is also very well preserved. An area is reserved for dogs (very rare in Spain) and the practice of kitesurfing.
On the entertainement side, restaurants and shops are slightly away from the seafront (300 meters as the crow flies) and are mainly grouped in a big avenue. The resort is very French speaking…the border is close. Few hotels directly in Empuriabrava most is outside. Also many rentals between particulars are possible (you can even rent villas along the canals with a pontoon for a boat). A few kilometers north-east, the seaside resort of Roses is very popular and offers a very diverse coastline with urban beaches and more private coves in the Cape Creus. The seaside district of Santa Margarida has many resorts.
