The seaside resort of Mataro is in around thirty kilometres north of Barcelona on the Costa del Maresme (south continuity of Costa Brava).
2.2 km of beaches in Mataro divided into 4 sectors are found. The north beaches (in comparison with the harbour) are more interesting and bigger. By moving away from the city centre, a third narrower but more wild beach is found (some portions measure less than 5 metres broad). In the south of part, a last family beach but small.
The seafront of Mataro is nice in spite of the nearness of the road and of railway way. In the central part, it is sported of palms with many restaurants and coffees. The different buildings are not the happiest …
The nearness of Barcelona and its access by the train is a big advantage of Mataro. It will be possible to go there easily for one day. In the north, the beaches of Blanes (entrance of Costa Brava) seem to us more interesting. Those who search a festive ambience will head for the beaches of Lloret de Mar, one of the most important seaside stations of Costa Brava and who has interesting coastal region.
