Known as New-York Mediterranean, Benidorm is located in the community of Valencia in the province of Alicante. It is one the most touristic destination of the Mediterranean and one of the most popular of Spain, especially with the youth. Benidorm is the city with the most skyscrapers per resident in the world ! It far exceeds New-York ! Some of them exceed 120 meters high, vertigo guaranteed… No authenticity at all in this seaside resort, the coast is totally concrete …the advantage is that there is one of the most important hotel offering in Spain. The historic city of Benidorm (nothing very pretty but we have no skyscrapers) is between the two beaches. This is where we can find some nice and authentic restaurants (including a neighborhood with tapas bars).
There are two big beaches in Benidorm. That of the Llevant is located in the most lively tourist area. This is where we find the main restaurants (mediocre), hotels and discotheques. The British Quarter is just steps away, it is at the heart of the nightlife. The beach of Poniente is located in the west, it is separated from the beach of the Llevant by the historic city. It is the biggest and the calmest zone.
Outside of its British Quarter (around the Levant beach) where we mainly find pubs and restaurants with Fish and Chips, Benidorm attracts a family clientele with its many theme parks and its club hotels.
