Largest town in the island of Ibiza, Sant Josep de sa Talaia is located away from the sea. It has 80 kms of coastline. The area near Sant Antoni de Portmany (Bay of Portmany) is the most touristic area and the least typical (mostly big resorts). By going to the west, the landscape becomes more preserved. However, it's hard to find accommodation.
The beaches in Sant Josep de sa Talaia are deemed to be the most beautiful of the island of Ibiza. That of Cala Bassa is one of the most popular (there is a campsite nearby). We regret to say a little too focused on tourism (pay parking, restaurants, overcrowding). Comte Beach is popular with “Ibizians” for its fabulous sunset. This is the postcard beach of Ibiza.
Nearby Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Ibiza (or Eivissa in Catalan) is a must see for its lively side but also for its architectural side. This is also the starting point to discover the beaches of the island of Formentera, probably the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. Those looking for the atmosphere in the English style will head to Sant Antoni de Portmany. The north of the island also hides some nuggets which are more family orientated destinations.
