Important seaside destination of the south of Fuerteventura, Costa Calma is one of the favorite destinations of the Germans. Built in the early 80’s to satisfy tourists from northern Europe in need of sunshine, Costa Calma is mainly composed of hotels, restaurants, cafes and residences.
There are several beaches in Costa Calma. The most beautiful is in the city center and extends over a little bit more than one kilometer. It is very well equipped and watched all year round. South, torwards the beautiful beach of Sotavento (in our sense the most beautiful beach of Fuerteventura), some nice wild coves where some practice naturism.
Unlike the popular resorts of Fuerteventura, the beach is very slightly away from the city center (a few hundred meters). The surroundings are not very touristy (very rare on the beautiful beaches of the Canary Islands) and the dune cord (poorly developed in this area) has been preserved.
Althought the center of Costa Calma is entirely dedicated to tourists, there is no really lively alley (unlike Corralejo or Morro Jable). The animation is diffuse…a shame for this type of destination it feels more like a city dormitory.
