Our opinion on the Grande Plage
Grande beach in Puerto Del Carmen (or Playa Grande or Olaya Blanca) is the most popular beach of Lanzarote. Composed of fine sand and extending over more than one kilometer, it is divided into two equivalent zones with private spaces (rental of deckchairs) and public. For sand lovers, it is undeniably one of the most beautiful one in Lanzarote (few sandy beaches, the island is volcanic and covered in places with lava). On the other hand, Puerto Del Carmen is very commercial, it is the most important seaside resort of Lanzarote (built from scratch) …ideal if you are looking for animation but the typical side of Lanzarote is non-existent (we live in the English fashion way with bacon eggs served in many ways in nearby restaurants).

We are on the north side of Grande beach of Puerto Del Carmen. Deckchairs, games for children in the water, fine sand…we are on one of the most beautiful beaches of Lanzarote.
South, we have the largest area…very similar to the north area. Beautiful view on the volcanos of Lanzarote.
Beautiful sand width…quite rare in Lanzarote whose coast is mainly composed of volcanic lava.
As often in Spain, when a beach has a tourist interest, there is an alignment of sunbeds but rates are lower than in France (8€ per day).
Despite the massive concreting of this station of Lanzarote, we find on the seafront of the beach some palms and coconut palms.
The extreme south is quieter with a vast, totally public area. Pedal boat hire and beach volleyball court.
The seafront of Puerto Del Carmen is very industrial (espacially in the nearest area of the Grande beach). Shops, restaurants (varied and international…), bars, …the choice is vast…but maybe not the quality…
