Itzurun beach in Zumaia is part of the wonders of the Basque coast. Near the city center and the thalasso center of Zumaia, this beautiful sandy beach stretches below limestone cliffs (the height can reach 150 meters high) so you can observe flyschs (sandstone and shale strata). Despite the proximity of amenities, the environment is totally wild. The white of the cliffs contrasts with the green meadows…Sublime…It is our favorite on the Spanish Basque coast. Not to be missed !
In the summer season, the beach is very well equipped with a first aid station, a bar restaurant on the heights (ideal in the evening to enjoy the sunset), toilets and rentals of tents and deckchairs. On the other hand, the sea may be very agitated in the area (unlike the other beach of Zumaia), it is a famous spot for surfing.
The beach is located on the west coast of Zumaia. It is accessible by a pedestrian path at the end of Amaia Plaza (we can also follow the thalasso center indications which is next to the beach). Parking is impossible in the surrounding area (you have to park in one of the city center parking lot). You can note that the beach is accessible for people with reduced mobility (ramp, be carefull slope is very important, you might need help).
