Our opinion on the Castle Beach

Adresse of the Castle Beach : Calle Punta de la Lagarta 35509 Arrecife

At the foot of the Castle of Arrecife (Castillo de San Gabriel), between two dikes and facing the city, there is a small sandy beach totally isolated from the off coast and so very calm. It is in a sort of channel where bathing is possible at high tide (at low tide, some go swimming more near the city passing by the bridge of Las Bolas).

Very pleasant setting with the castle of San Grabriel build in the late 18th century to fight against the threats of pirates. Inside, there is an archaeological museum (free).

Photo of Castle beach in San Gabriel in Arrecife - Lanzarote

Original beach at the bottom of a kind of channel between the bridge of Las Bolas (on the left of the picture) and the paved path of Lagarta. In the background the castle of San Gabriel.

Beach of San Gabriel in Arrecife

Pleasant sandy beach (not really fine) at the foot of the castle with a very historical setting.

View on Arrecife from castle

Very sheltered beach (and even too much) very suitable for children. On the other hand, the water is very rare at low tide ... but there is a second beach behind.

Puente Las Bolas in Arrecife - Lanzarote

It is from the bridge of Las Bolas (18th century) that the youth of Arrecife come to bathe. The basin fills up at the port level, so bathing is possible at low tide.
