Our opinion on the Famara Beach
It is North-West of Lanzarote, facing La Graciosa, that we find the most famous surf spot of Lanzarote. Very windy area, this big sandy beach of Famara offers an extraordinary setting with its high cliffs and its often unleashed turquoise sea. We appreciate its width and its fine sand. Seaside, the dune area is important by its width, very rare at Lanzarote to find dunes (in general there are lava fields …).
However, red flags are often drawn on this beach. Only advised for surfers … or to look at them.
The town of Famara is only frequented by surfers. A little bohemian atmosphere and very dusty.

Vast sandy beach at the foot of dizzying cliffs at the North-West of Lanzarote.
Extremely fine sand in the area recovered by the waters at high tide. On the heights of the beach there is volcanic lava.
On the East side of the beach, there is a private domain (with some shops).
This beach is famous for surfing. On the opposite side nice view on the island of Graciosa.
Red flags ... it is very common in this part of Lanzarote. Beach rather not recommended for bathing.
Getting closer to the town of Famara, the beach becomes less pleasant because of the rocks at the level of the sea. Sand also becomes coarse.
In the water, the lava stones can be big ... we will avoid this area ...
Rare are the dune spaces at Lanzarote. The view on the cliffs is remarkable !
Parking is not a problem in this area ... we park directly along the road.
